Alan Harrington (Chairman)
Alan has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2000. Alan retired as General Manager of Maple Street Co-operative (including the Upfront Club) in 2008 after 14 years service. Alan’s background is in the development and implementation of computer systems and the management of change in organisations, including detection and investigation of fraud and the subsequent prosecution of offenders. Alan is a business partner in the family firm of Books & Balances that specialises in the provision of financial and management services.
Alan regards the co-operative movement as very important and believes that it offers opportunities for long-term sustainable development which should enrich the wider communities. He also believes very strongly in the long term future of MCU and the increasingly important role it will play in the wider community as it develops.
Graham Hart AM (Deputy Chairman)
Graham has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2007. Graham is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD), a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM) and a Fellow of FINSIA (F Fin).
Graham was a former Chief Executive of Bank of Queensland and was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for outstanding contribution to banking and finance. He is a director of a range of companies which have developed sustainable waste and water management and green energy technologies for use in Australia and overseas. Graham is a member of the Board Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Nathan Arrowsmith
Nathan has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2008. Nathan has a Cert. IV in small business management and a Cert. III in information technology. Nathan is owner and manager of Maleny website development business ‘Arrowsmith Websites’, which he founded in 2003 and co-owner of ‘Fig Creative’, a branding and marketing business founded in 2008.
Nathan is active in the local business community, and serves as Treasurer of the Maleny Chamber of Commerce. Nathan is a member of the Board Audit and Risk Management Committee.
John Duthie BSc.
John has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2002 and is currently the Chair of the Board Audit and Risk Management Committee (BARMC), and serves on the following committees, the MCU Building Redevelopment Sub-Committee and Chair of the Community Development Committee.
As Chair of the BARMC John and his committee are responsible for overseeing the internal and external audits as well as monitoring closely the overall risk profile of MCU.
Lynne Frederiksen
Lynne has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2003. Lynne has a background in the Travel and Retail industries. Lynne is a member of the Board Audit and Risk Management Committee and the MCU Building Redevelopment Sub-Committee.
Lynne has a keen interest in sustainable housing and its relationship to the environment. Lynne believes in contributing to the wider communities in which MCU operates.
Marc Jonkers BSc EE.
Marc has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2009. Marc is the founder of an IT consultancy business and is also the owner of a business importing and distributing European baby products.
He has over 15 years experience in the Information Technology industry. Marc’s aim is to expand the appeal of the Credit Union to the wider public and in maximising the impact of our new core banking system.
Margaret Rimmer BA/LLB
Margaret has been a Director of the Credit Union since 2004. Margaret has over 30 years experience as a Solicitor. Margaret is the Chairman of the MCU Charitable Trust Committee.
Margaret is committed to the long term sustainable development of our region which recognises and values differences whilst upholding community values and ties.
